Thank you for a fantastic hockey camp in Prior Lake last week!  Our kids (Elsa & Soren ) absolutely loved it!  They were very sad when it ended, and they definitely want to do it again next year.  The camp was a great mix of fun and learning.  In youth hockey during the regular season, the fun seems to get lost and it can feel like a grind.  For young kids they have to be having fun to want to put forth their best effort, and this camp got that right.  The coaches and counselors were great as well - encouraging and supportive of everyone.  Thank you from our whole family!

I had the pleasure of attending several sessions during the July 22-26 camp at Augsburg Arena.  My grandson was experiencing his 1st day camp. I was impressed with the level of professionalism by your staff, which evidences their experience.  Also, the treatment of the campers, was exceptional and under that umbrella each student greatly improved through the week.

 Hi John - I just wanted to thank you and your staff for a fun and challenging week at hockey camp. Cal had a great time and wants to come back. I'm glad I had the opportunity to experience what hockey camp is like.

I really admired Coach Thul's calm and friendly instruction with his group -- since I'm pretty much at the mite level with many of my skills, his instruction was really helpful. And I could tell Cal was picking up on it, even when facing the wrong direction.

 

It was very cool to get to hear Coach Sears talk to his players -- particularly about the importance of having a competitive mindset - I'm taking that advice back to my job. What I learned from his on-ice and classroom sessions was invaluable to me both as a player and (more importantly) as a parent.

 

Coaches Grant, Weber and Hanson were amazing with both the kids and parents. Watching their skills up close on the ice was an incredible opportunity for both Cal and me, and their instruction and encouragement meant a lot.

 

I also wanted to thank Coaches Grant and Weber for whatever they said to Cal during championship game. He started the game tripping, checking, etc., and they got him to stop. I also noticed that Coach Hanson made sure Grace Ann got to be center when another kid tried to steal it from her - that was very cool. Her parents were sitting near us and cheering a lot.

 

It was fun to get to know Coach Sam - we had a great conversation about St. Paul schools that will stay with me as Cal grows up. And I loved how Coach Quinn would always tell me I did a good job my tests -- that was very generous :-) I also have to say, I thought the kids in the older group were really fun to play with, and even though I think some weren't that crazy about being paired up/teamed up with an old mom, they hid it pretty well and would make their own moms proud of how they conducted themselves all week.

Chris had another fun, challenging and educational time at Top Dog this year. He thoroughly enjoyed working with coach Haglund, as well as the other coaches involved in the daily activities. The discipline factor is good to see, as a parent you like to see it quite and the attention given to the coach. In the last two years of Chris hockey, I have seen his confidence increase both on and off the ice. As well as a significant change in his willingness to be physical, even though he is not a large kid and usually has to deal with players a lot larger in size. This I know is due to the self confidence that your staff has given him through your program at Top Dog. Chris is not just given the opportunity to go to camp; he must earn it through good grades, at least "B" average throughout the school year. With this incentive he will work hard this year in 7th grade, so that he will earn the right to attend camp next summer. I am sure he will again want to attend Top Dog Hockey Camps.
