Top Dog Hockey Camp is looking for On-Ice Coaches, and Head On-ice coaches to join our awesome staff.  Coaches must work well with kids and other staff members.  Coaches must also be able to communicate well with parents.  Coaches should be able to devise fun, challenging and engaging drills and on-ice plans within the guidelines of the Top Dog Hockey systems. We pride ourselves on ensuring players have fun while learning and working hard.

Coaches must pass a background check.  

Coaches must be available to work most of these weeks:
2024 Camp Dates:

  1. June  17-21  (Tria Rink-Downtown, St. Paul)
  2. June 24-28  (Tria Rink- Downtown, St Paul)
  3. July 8-12  (Augsburg College, Mpls)
  4. July 15-19 (Tria Rink- Downtown, St Paul)
  5. July 22-26 (Tria Rink- Downtown, St Paul)
  6. July 29-Aug. 2 (Tria Rink- Downtown St Paul)
  7. Aug 5-9 (Dakotah Ice Arena-Prior Lake)

3-Day Weekend Skill Clinics:  We also need instructors for our 3-Day Weekend Skill Clinics.

Below is a sample On-Ice Coach Weekly Schedule.  We have three groups that run each day.  This is a sample of just one.  Each schedule can shift start and end times from 45-60 minutes.   

Weekly Schedule:

  • Mon:  7:30am to 4:15 pm with 1-hour break, 40 min lunch
  • Tue, Wed, Thur: 7:45 am to 4:15 pm with 45-hour break, 40 min lunch
  • Fri: 7:45 am to 2:15 pm, Break, 40 min lunch

Weekly Hours:

  • Average of 35-37 hours per week

On-Ice Coach or On-Ice HEAD Coach Salary

  • Salary range:  $650-$800/week, depending on experience and level of responsibility at camp.

  • Top Dog instructor shirt and coat provided. (Staff wears their own black track pants)
  • Paid parking

Daily duties (Duties may change as needed. 

  • Locker room presence is a must: coaches must check their locker room a few times during the day. 
  • Help with registration and check-in on Mondays. 
  • Morning On-ice Session.  Guideline provided, but coaches design their own on-ice regimen.
  • Classroom Session:  Guidelines provided.
  • Lunch:  Coaches eat with other staff and assist with supervision during lunch. 
  • Afternoon On-Ice Session:  Guideline provided, but coaches design their own on-ice regimen.
  • Video Review and Goals:  Technical equipment provided. 
  • Referee:  Each coach will assist with refereeing controlled scrimmages and games.
  • End of the day:  Be available at the days end to supervise the locker room, meet parents, answers any questions.

Top Dog Hockey Camp counselors help coaches with their on-ice sessions, assist players with skate tying and equipment, and assist coaches with supervising their group during lunch and departure. 

The ideal counselor will be an experienced hockey player who is 16+.   We will consider 15 if you have work experience. At 15 you may play some games as well as work. Counselors must have a great attitude and communicate well with coaches, kids, and parents. We love to see former Top Dog players apply!

Counselors must be available to work most of these weeks, as noted below. We do try to assist with setting up carpools.
